Emma Downey

I am dedicated to providing a warm and non-judgmental environment where my clients can feel comfortable to share their experiences in a supportive space. My therapeutic approach is calm, compassionate, and tailored to my clients’ unique needs, and I understand the importance of meeting my clients where they are on their journey. I enjoy working collaboratively to support my clients in overcoming challenges and achieving their personal goals. My approach is grounded in the belief that everyone deserves a space where they can feel safe, valued, and supported in their journey, and sometimes that can start with being heard by just one person.

I have worked in roles supporting individuals in high-pressure and complex environments. These experiences have deepened my understanding of the challenges people face and strengthened my commitment to providing empathetic and effective care. With experience in areas including anxiety, depression, trauma, alcohol and other drug use, family domestic violence, sexual trauma, and involvement with the criminal justice system, I offer tailored support for a diverse range of needs.

I incorporate evidence-based therapeutic modalities, including Schema Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), to empower my clients in achieving their goals. While I work with individuals across the lifespan, I have a particular focus on supporting adults as they navigate life’s challenges.

In my spare time, you’ll find me out for coffee, at the beach, doing yoga, and somewhere in nature.
