Emmelie Sparkes

Provisional Psychologist (she/her)BSc (Psychology – First Class Honours)

Hello! I’m Emmelie, a provisional psychologist and Freo local here at Neira Psychology. I must admit I find the ‘about me’ part of writing a bio tricky so I asked my partner to sum me up in a few words and he floated the following adjectives “light, warm, caring, patient, funny and dorky,” so I’m going to run with that. I love being in this role and cherish the absolute privilege it is to share space with and help guide clients on what I see as a very collaborative journey.

What I’d really like is to learn more about you, what’s been going on and what’s brought you to this page. Perhaps you’re hoping for healthier ways of relating to and managing your emotions. Maybe you’re noticing that your mind often runs away from you, and you’d like to be more present-focused. Are you struggling with low self-esteem and self-critical thoughts, relationship concerns, sleep difficulties or troublesome past life experiences? Wherever you’re at, please know that you’re not alone and there are absolutely things we can try together to work towards your therapy goals.

I take an integrative approach to therapy, drawing on skills and techniques from multiple evidence-based modalities to meet the individual needs of my clients. These include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Metacognitive Therapy and experiential and imagery-based exercises. As I’m a provisional psychologist (currently completing my Master’s and PhD in clinical psychology), I also meet regularly with my clinical supervisor (Corey Neira) to ensure my clients are getting the best quality care.

If you feel that working with me might be a good match for your needs, please reach out as I’d love to help.

Emmelie is registered with the Psychology Board of Australia.
